More Photos

July 27, 2010 Bloggies by Heidi Swire Edit

Chris and I have been out and about over the last month and I have been taking a few photos. Where have we been? Try Charlestown, Mullion Cove, Golant, Lostwithiel carnival and our garden! There are lots of photos especially of the ferret racing, sheep shearing and Lostwithiel Town Band that took place at the start of the Lostwithiel carnival. It is also amazing the amount of flowers we have in our garden.

Well as you can probably guess we are rather busy at the moment, but it has been very interesting the amount of foreign guests we are getting. Germany comes top of the poles, followed by Sweden and Austria! We are so glad their English is so good as our german, swedish and austrian is non existant!

So see all the new photos on our Facebook page.

Pine Lodge Gardens

July 01, 2010 Bloggies by Heidi Swire Edit

A few hours away from Penrose B&B spent at Pine Lodge Gardens near St Austell, all help to recharge our (Chris & Heidi's) batteries!

Have to say we do love going to these gardens, as they are very peaceful and you do come away with ideas for your own garden (what becomes of those ideas is another matter!).

It gives me an excuse to use my new camera and the pictures can be found on our facebook page (just click facebook). I am getting used to the macro setting and picked up a great tip from some people we met who were from a local camera club - for action shots of people or animals put the camera on continuous shots. My bit of added advice is get a tripod or similar to keep the camera still and this will help no end.

Back to Pine Lodge, again it is a place of different parts. The winter garden with a fantastic statue of a stag, was only created 4/5 years ago and in the past 2 years since we last saw it it has grown really well. There is a Pinetum (field with lots of pine trees), a couple of japenese type areas, a wooded area, a lovely patio area (Chris wants one of these - put it on the list my love!) lots of lawns and borders, a lake with lots of birds (hence the tripod and holding the camera still), a pond area, shop, nursery and cafe.

You always see a few pwople on your walk round, but never too many to get in the way!

Guest Lounge

May 04, 2010 Bloggies by Heidi Swire Edit

We have decided to turn our small and cosy twin room into an equally small and cosy guest lounge! This will give guests another place to chill out (or Mums and Dads a chance to have a few moments while the children are sleeping).

The lounge will be open for business at the end of June.

Pencarrow House

May 04, 2010 Bloggies by Heidi Swire Edit

Welcome to my first blog!!

This year we have decided to make a list of the places in Cornwall that we really must visit this year, so a couple of weeks ago Chris & I managed to go out for the day (ok a couple of hours!) and we ended up at Pencarrow House just outside of Bodmin.

What a charming and tranquil place! The guided tour around the house was brilliant and well worth it (Sundays to Thursdays). We took a lot of photos, which we have uploaded to our facebook page (click on the word facebook and you will be transported there). Can't wait to go back in the next few weeks to see all the rhodies out in bloom.
